Uniform Policy

2023-2024 Dress Code for St. Anastasia School

St Anastasia School maintains the right to establish a dress code for its students.  St. Anastasia School’ s dress code was developed:

  • To promote a Christian atmosphere

  • To free children for academic concentration

  • To minimize competition among students regarding clothing

  • To allow for more economical dress for school

Students are expected to be in uniform on all school days unless otherwise noted.  They are expected to be neat and clean in appearance at all times.  It is the responsibility of the parent that your child is dressed appropriately and according to the uniform dress code.  Uniforms should be replaced when they are no longer in good condition (faded, torn, stained, or outgrown).  Please label the inside of the school uniform with your child’s name so that it can be returned in the event that it is misplaced during the school day.

Universal Uniform Guidelines:

  •  Shoes must be solid black or white gym shoes with shoe laces that match the color of the shoe.  Brown or black dress shoes may be worn on non gym days.

  • Unacceptable shoes/footwear include: sandals, flip flops, shoes with wheels (“wheelies”), clogs, boots, slippers, moccasins, high tops, light-up shoes, open-backed shoes, and shoes with heels.

    • Boots may be worn to school in inclement weather, but must be removed upon entering the building.  School shoes/gym shoes must be worn inside the school.

    • Simple jewelry is allowed.  This includes one watch (NO APPLE WATCHES), one bracelet, one set of stud earrings (no dangling earrings, ear clips, facial piercing, or multiple sets of earrings), one necklace, one crucifix or religious medal on a small chain.  Multiple earrings and bracelets are not to be worn.

    • No drawing on hands or arms is permitted.

    • Nails are to be free of colored polish.  Acrylic and gel nails are not permitted.

    • No hair dye, of any nature, may be worn.

    • No make-up including lipstick and mascara is permitted at school.

    • Garments worn under the uniform must remain invisible.

    • Shorts and skirts are not to be more than TWO INCHES above the knee.

    • Shirts are to be tucked in at all times.

    • Hair extending below the eyebrows or extreme hairstyles is unacceptable for both boys and girls.  Administration reserves the right to define extreme.

Non-Uniform Day Dress Guidelines

  • Clothing should be school appropriate, clean clothing.

  • Unacceptable clothing includes, but is not limited to:

  • bare midriffs

  • spaghetti straps

  •  low-cut, tight and short apparel

  •  halter tops

  • bare shoulders

  •  tank tops,

  • back-less and see-through blouses

shirts with pictures or letterings that are inappropriate or associated with drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or off-colored messages that are not in keeping with the wholesome school atmosphere

  • Hats, scarves, bandanas

  • Ripped clothing

  • flip flops, slippers, moccasins, and shoes without backs are unacceptable.

  • Boots are not acceptable during the school day.

  • Tight leggings and yoga pants are allowed only when wearing under a dress.

  • Shorts or skirts shorter than TWO INCHES above the knee

Students, especially junior high students are encouraged to bring their own personal hygiene items to school to be used when needed.  Students will be allowed to keep extra deodorant in their lockers or backpacks.  We ask that students do not bring aerosol cans of deodorant to school.  Body spray, perfume, cologne, and/or aftershave should be left at home.  Students will not be allowed to keep these items in lockers.  Spraying these items will result in possible disciplinary action.  These items when used in areas the general population of the school uses can lead to problems for allergy sufferers and those with asthma.

In accordance with Public Act 102-0360 the School does not prohibit hairstyles that are historically associated with race, ethnicity or hair texture, including, but not limited to, protective hairstyles such as braids, locks, and twists.

Out of Uniform Consequences

Neatness and pride of appearance are the responsibility of the student, with guidance and encouragement from parents and teachers. Teachers will ensure that their students are in uniform each day. Students who are not wearing part of the required uniform are “Out of Uniform.”

Out of Uniform infractions will be noted to administration. After three infractions, the student will be issued a detention. If uniform infractions, continue, administration will determine consequences

In the event of inappropriate casual dress, a demerit will be given and the parents will be called to bring suitable attire.  The administration and/or the teachers make decisions on acceptable appearance.  The decisions of the administration are final.
